Stephen Capps: that 26 code is for that airbag light on your overhead display. if that airbag overhead light display is not working properly it will not enable passenger airbag. it is not a too common occurrence.

Bernie Hudgins: Thanks, saved me $$$. I determined that It's best to touch up all the solder joints not just resistors. In my case it was a bad solder joint on one of the leds.

blueskyisnice: Thanks, very helpful!

Mount Doom: What's the part number?  I found two parts online, 84621AG53A and 84621AG57A.  Not sure which one fits my 2.5i (not 2.5i limited).

dellam04: I also have a 2008 Outback and have gone through 2 drive boots and a rear bearing replacement recently.  now just have an airbag error light.  thanks for the video and I'm sure that I can replace it myself.  after that, i'll get rid of it and will never buy me another Subaru.  doesn't seem like a good brand where so many have praised it...

Amjad Khoury: Do you know the part number for this? I am having a tough time finding the part on the SoA website. I am pretty sure I am having the same issue. The dealer ship wants to charge me 115 for the diagnosis and I may as well just buy the part for 130 and fix it.

Scott Kaplan: I had the same issue on my 2008 Subaru Outback. Code 26 with the red dash airbag light on all the time. The overhead indicator would not show on nor off for the passenger airbag. I removed the console then removed the little circuit board from the console, but left the wires attached to the console for ease of reinstallation. I re-soldered the 3 resistors that said 331 on them. There did not appear to be a flaw in the factory solder, but when I heated up one end of one of the resistors, it started to slip off. I believe that the other side of that resistor was not soldered sufficiently and that was causing the problem. I put the console back in and everything is functioning correctly now.

roland kiessling: Fantastic video! In my Subaru Outback 2007, during cold temperatures the air bag light turned on in the dash board and the LED assembly lights did not working properly. I asked dealership to check it out during oil change where they claimed it was the Airbag/Console Replacement code 26. They wanted to charge $400 for replacement and installation. I watched your video and purchased the new LED assembly for $150 then installed it myself in 10 minutes. It works great! Thanks!!!

Al Preston: Sean, where did you buy the replacement part?  How much?  Do you know the part number?  Thanks!

Rich B: I unplugged mine on my 2015. Very annoying to have an orange light in my face at night when someone isn't sitting in the seat. I don't need to see an indicator light. These newer models have too many annoy lights that older models never had. They cause more problems than help.

Rob Breda: The red light on the instrument panel reads "Airbag".  I had that on, but it was on due to one of the LEDs not working properly in the overhead console.  Rather than replace the console, I tried to re-solder all of the connections on the small circuit board that the LEDs are attached to.  That was yesterday and the fault light has not come back on yet.  I am hopeful, but I, too, would like to see it stay off for a while before I believe it is fixed.  Thanks for the video that helped get me on the right track.

Rob Breda: Just curious if you have an update?  Did this fix the problem?  I have a 2008 Legacy with the same problem.  Wasn't sure if by "indicator" they meant the light or the sensor "indicating" if a person is present.  Thanks in advance
